Today Ms. Jansen taught us how to start the project. We learned how to use pbwiki and create a wiki for our project. She taught us how to add pages and make links and edit the sidebar.
As for activity, today the website itself was created. A pasword and link were were emailed to Ms. Jansen as well as Ms. Rasmussen. Icreated the necessary pages today for the project such as two journal and two notes pages. They were linked via the sidebar.

For research, I went to the subscription databases page and looked up streptomyces griseus. No pages were found on NetTrekker and no seemingly helpful ones were found on the Gale database. When searching in Encyclopedia Britannica, however, some helpful results came up.
What I found was a page containing very helpful detail on the streptomyces bacteria. The page had a simple summary of the bacteria. This will be helpful to me to learn what the bacteria is in the early stages of this project. The timeline was also planned and made by Caro and I. I also made decorative pictures for my pages, as one can see.

No reasearch or note taking was made today, instead a lab report was started.
12/6/07
The materials for the lab did not come in today, so instead the day was spent doing research. Caro and I found a few sites on the free web that we will cite and take notes on later, as well as fill out a form. We answered most of the required pages, but I found an interesting page on Streptomycin, which is produced by our bacteria. I will add more to that page soon.
Tomorrow we should be working on the lab, which should be fun.

Today in class we did a lab involving E Coli and Staff infection. It was a bit scary working with these dangerous bacteria. There isn't much data to record, so instead I decided to work on the website.
I drew a graphic for the site on the about Streptomyces Griseus page. I think it came out cute. I also need to remind Caro to take the graphic on the front page down, since she cannot cite the sources for it.
12/8/07 and 12/9/07
Ah, the weekend at last! I have a busy weekend planned, such as 5Ks and cooking classes, so I'll have to work efficiently. I'll work more on note taking for the website and maybe start a new graphic for the site.

Lab report was worked on today. Not much time to work on website.
12/11/07
In class there was plenty of time to work on the project so I filled out more info about streptomycin and Caro and I found some required information on streptomyces griseus. Caro cited her sources properly, and the bibliography is looking good! We're coming to a close for what we have to do.
However, there's a lab prep to do today. I do not think that there will be a lot of time to work on this website. How sad.

Cleaned up the bibliography and front page, but PBwiki decided that it doesn't like me, so it took awhile. The text was messed up and I had to spend ten minutes on a job that would've normally taken one. Turns out the picture on the front page of the website was messing with the coding and etc, so I had to delete it, unfortunately.
But the project is drawing to a close and all that is needed is to polish everything up. Caro and I have enough information and sources, we just need to piece it together and make it look nice. Should be no problem and we shouldn't have to hurry.

Today there is a lab report to do, due tomorrow. I'm going to be busy with that.

So Caro came home with me today. She's here as I am typing this. We're going to go ahead and work together on the project. She's going to work on the website evaluation forms. Together we'll finish the streptomyces griseus page and the streptomycin page. Then we'll work on pictures together and make all this colorful. We may finish early! That would be nice. My dad spoke to some microbiologists and was able to find additional information about streptomyces griseus from the scientists and I need to figure out how to cite that. But that's good. This will add a lot of information to our page.
As soon as I do the required information, I might throw a bit of random extra information in that will be harder to understand. The word document that I recieved from the scientists is very, very detailed. Most of it I'm not able to undertand, so I probably won't include too much information. Caro and I are working on graphics together, and Max Ponte was kind enough to make a flash game for us, so I'll have to have him teach me how to post that soon.

Nothing much was done today. I simply cited the final source. My dad was able to recieve information from a place called Nelson Labratories, and I tried to cite that source as best as I could. I added a picture to the front page and colored Caroline's notes picture and Max Ponte posted the flash game, which was nice. Pretty much everything is done, but I may go back and change the font colors to make it look prettier. I think the pictures are of enough decoration. I still need to check with Caro about the "audience evaluation" forms that she's in charge of.
